Pasaje Picheta

Located in the heart of Mérida's Historic Center, Pasaje Picheta has deep historical roots.

These corridors, which surrounded the main plaza, have existed since 1639. The site originally housed Mérida's first City Hall and a public prison that operated for 134 years.

Today, this passage blends tourism and community services with cultural heritage. Here, you will find everything from local crafts to currency exchange offices. Don't miss the chance to take photos with the giant park chair and the numerous murals throughout the building.

The Gabriel Gahona Commercial Center, better known as "Pasaje Picheta"

Right in the heart of Mérida lies Pasaje Picheta, a space with roots dating back to the 17th century. Its name honors the Yucatecan artist Gabriel Vicente Gahona—a renowned cartoonist, painter, draftsman, and engraver.

In this corner of the Historic Center, you will discover hand-crafted goods, currency exchange services, beautiful murals, and an exhibition hall featuring works by local and national artists. It is a place where modernity coexists with vibrant brushstrokes of the past.
