Mérida, Yucatán, November 1, 2023. Starting this Thursday, the Siglo XXI Cinemas will celebrate the Day of the Dead by showcasing the short film "El Pib", directed by Yucatecan director and writer Miguel Ventura, and the film "Hurricane Season", featuring renowned Yucatecan actress and playwright Conchi León.

The short film "El Pib" is a project by Aventura Producciones and Cine Janal and is being shown in theaters for the first time. The film emphasizes Mayan traditions but is also an important gastronomic document and a beautiful cinematic work of art. The short will be screened before all screenings for one week.

"Hurricane Season" is a film by Pimienta Films, directed by Elisa Miller, with a screenplay based on the novel of the same name by Fernanda Melchor, starring Paloma Alvamar, Andrés Córdova, and Conchi Léon, among others. The film premiered at the Morelia International Film Festival and will also be shown on Netflix.

Beethoven Piano Concert

In addition, this Saturday, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra will present a high-resolution video performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 and Richard Strauss' "Transfiguration and Death," courtesy of the Beethoven Foundation of Mexico. Admission is free.

New releases starting this Thursday

The Siglo XXI Cinemas will also premiere the films "Señora Influencer" and "Confesiones" this Thursday, and continue to screen "Trolls: World Tour" in 3D and 2D formats, "Radical," "Paw Patrol: The Movie," "Five Nights at Freddy's," "Hypnosis," and Taylor Swift's concert: Eras Tour.

At the stroke of midnight next Thursday, after a prolonged pause due to the pandemic, the Siglo XXI Cinemas will resume midnight screenings with the highly anticipated film "The Marvels."

All tickets are now on sale at the box office of the complex, located inside the Yucatán Siglo XXI Convention and Exhibition Center, and on the cinema's website www.cinessigloxxi.com. The price is $50.
