An adoption contract was signed where even the animal stamped "his signature"

Mérida, Yucatán, March 10, 2023. After being rescued from a hostile environment, in the vicinity of Chichén Itzá, and with the risk of losing his right hind leg due to a serious wound that presented, today, finally, "Chinese", one of the "sacred dogs of Kukulkan", he found a home, where he will have a dignified life with five other puppies.

The delivery of the "lomito" to its new owner, Mrs. Elizabeth Valerio Hernández, was carried out by Lourdes Durán Leal, of the animal protection association Perpópolis, was made shortly after 9 in the morning in the property 97 K of street 41 between 56 and 58, of the Fracc. Las Fuentes, from Progreso Yucatán.

Minutes before, when the puppy arrived at the door of the house of what would be his new house, which was taken by the general director of Cultur Mauricio Díaz Montalvo, Mrs. Elizabeth left her house and notoriously excited expressed: "Welcome Chinese to your new home", while hugging him and kissing his little head! And the Chinese, very nobly, accepted all the welcome apapachos and kisses.

Upon entering the house, Elizabeth warned her children: "The new little brother has arrived." He immediately took him to the patio where five other dogs were – "lola", "mía", "chiquitito", "chichín" and "nena" – who are also in the custody of the adopter.

When this encounter of Chinese with his new companions occurred, there were only a few slight grunts of apparent "jealousy", but in less than two minutes, after sniffing each other, an atmosphere of "canine cordiality" was generated.

"Thank you very much for adopting him!" said Diaz Montalvo to Elizabeth, who replied: "On the contrary, thank you for trust."

At that time, the president of Perpópolis, said that, when she made the visit to verify the conditions of the place where "Chinese" would be, it was not necessary to ask questions, since the now adopter expressed that she has had other dogs that died of old age, which has the support of a veterinarian, and also the house is closed. "You can tell that he loves animals and I had no doubt that Chinese is in the best hands," he added.

Mauricio Díaz explained that the puppy was rescued by Cultur personnel in July of last year in the surroundings of Chichén, but given the conditions in which he arrived, his recovery was very slow.

-We had him a few months in a temporary home and then he spent a few days in Cultur... That made the animal become sociable and noble, he added.

Then, Lourdes Durán, from Perpópolis, proceeded to the formal delivery of the "sacred dog" by signing an adoption contract. The document, which establishes a series of commitments, was signed by her, by Mrs. Valerio Hermández and even the puppy himself who stamped his footprint with improvised "coffee ink".

Then, Mauricio Díaz gave Mrs. Valerio Hernández the card containing the veterinary care she received in China at the Planned Pethood Clinic.

Mrs. Valerio Hernández stated the following:

-I feel very happy for the confidence they gave me to be able to adopt the puppy... I was very touched by her story, which I read on social networks, because I consider myself an animal advocate.

I have always thought that these creatures have the right to be respected and to have a dignified life and home; Let them have a roof, water and food. And for me, they are not just animals, but part of my family. I will forever be in favor of your rights!

Do you know the history of "Chinese"?

-If I know her, I was struck by the fact that she is a "sacred puppy of Kukulkan" and how he arrived injured in Merida. I showed it to my children and told them that I would do everything possible for "chinito" to be mine and today it is.

When saying goodbye, Mauricio Díaz said: "Well Chinese, you are already there, you already have a decent home."
