Celestún piedra pintada
Celestún, which means "Painted Stone," is one of the most representative ports in Yucatán. It is located to the west of the state, 92 km from Mérida.
At the entrance of the town, you will find the Celestún Biosphere Reserve, a protected natural area that is home to nearly 560 species of animals, of which approximately 300 are birds, a third of the total bird species in Mexico.
The pink flamingo is a representative bird of this area, where they nest and breed from December to April (the ideal time for observing the flamingos is from 8 am to 12 pm). This ecosystem is also inhabited by 5 species of felines, including the jaguar, spider monkey, ocelots, and crocodiles.
Visitors can take a boat tour, which lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and provides life jackets for tourists. The boats only accommodate 6 people at a time to explore the wonders of this place and admire the "Baldiosera," "Cambay," and "Tambor" freshwater springs.
In an effort to contribute to environmental conservation, the tourist facility has installed solar panels.
